My holga plant images

I took this when I was on my way to morrisons to get some food. i'm not really sure what it is, but I liked the way it looked. I think that someone just threw this dirty rug onto the pavement and it just happened to go onto some flowers. I love that they are peeking through. They look so pretty and delicate against the mangy rug.

This young girl ran frantically past me, so I decided to photograph her running whilst her back was turned. I like that there is a driving car in the image and the framing of the bushes and trees.

I really liked this single pink flower. I think that it looks pretty, growing up a white wall and with all the other plantation around it.

This is my most edited image. The white flower is really bright, against the dark green grass. A bit too bright maybe?

I took this image of my hand picking a small purple flower. I like that the flower head is in my grasp.

I liked the look of this white and pink flower growing out of this bush.

I like how the sky and sun illuminate this image.

I took this image of purple flowers quite close up.

I decided to not edit these images to much because I really like the natural effect of holga images and I didn't want ot take that away. Some of these image are quite dark and look as if they were taken at night, I quite like that effect. These images have been inspired by Betsey Ramage's images of flowers and plants and by Vicki Barnes images of flowers

Betsey Ramage- inspiration

I like the bright lighting on the flowers and the shallow depth of field, so that only the flower is in focus. The flowers look so delicate and pretty against the blurred background of the stems and leaves.

I really like the composition in this image. The two yellow, bright flowers look so pretty against the deep green leaf.

Again I love the depth of field in this image. The sunflower looks so bright and summery. I like how the sunflower isnt perfect, with one of its petals drooping. This connotes that something doesn't have to be perfect to be beautiful.

I love the colour of the sky, the way the blue fades into a soft orange. The silhoutted trees and mountains look great.

Vicki Barnes -inspiration

I have recently come across a young artist called Vicky Barnes. I quite like her photography, especially her polaroid and holga images. I like her style and the cameras that she uses.

Sarah Moon -inspiration

I really like the old, distressed look to these images. They have such a unique look to them. I think that the contrast and tonal ranges of these images are really brilliant. I am really inspired by these images and would love to experiment with this style of photography.
You can see some of her works on these websites;

Joiners

We got set a task to produce some joiners. My favourite one that I did is the tree. I also quite like the swings, but I'm not so pleased with cat.

Experimental Sheep!

I put the image on a label!

I decided to experiment with my sheep images further in photoshop. I have been inspired by Sarah Moon and her fairy-tale like images. I know that i have used completely different techniques to hers and that the images look very different, but it was just a general idea.

Sheep!

i wanted to photograph lambs because i think that they are the epitome of Spring animals, so it fits into my theme. I like that these two are walking side by side.

This sheep is quite a big one. I photographed him as soon as he looked at me.

I really like this lamb because he has black on him. I decided to crop this image so that the lamb took up most of the image. I am pleased with the blurred effect and I like the way that it looks.

I thought that this lamb was really sweet. I like that he's peering over the water trough and that I took this image through the fence so that it's visible.

I like the composition in this image, the way that the big sheep is looking at the camera and the three lambs are all facing to the right and heading that way. I also really like the big sheeps face. He looks funny.

This little lamb was hiding away so I really wanted to photograph him. I love how I captured him peering out. I like how one set of wheels are blue and the other is red.

I edited all of these images in photoshop. I gave them all a similar look so that they work together. I played around with layering and de-saturating the diffent layers to achieve this look.
